We buy tungsten, tungsten heavy alloy and tungsten carbide in quantity, then melt it down and use it ourselves in Laramie. A broker would just flip your material to someone who does. Before we quote anything, we test and weigh your actual lot. A price off a website is a guess.

Tungsten is nearly twice as heavy as lead and sits within a hair of gold. The drum you cannot tip holds more mass, and more money, than anything else on your floor.
It is also why nobody throws it out twice. Once a shop finds out what the barrel in the corner is actually worth, it stops being waste and becomes stock.

Origin does not reset
in a recycler
DFARS 252.225-7052 restricts tungsten from four covered countries. Through the end of 2026 the test is whether it was melted or produced there. From January 1, 2027 it widens to mined, refined, separated, melted, or produced.
The clause explicitly reaches recycled material, so passing through a recycling stream does not give tungsten a new country of origin.
